In support of possible upcoming competitions, we are seeking qualified individuals who have expertise in one or more of the following areas: Older Individuals Who Are Blind * Knowledge, skills, and experience in working with and understanding the needs and challenges of older individuals who are blind, age 55 and older. Reminder regarding the O&M Conference call today

Hello Everyone, I just wanted to remind everyone that the O&M Conference call will be this afternoon at 4:00 pm CDT. I have received very little feedback regarding possible topics for discussion, so if you have suggestions, either e-mail them right away, or bring them to the meeting. Given this, please be giving consideration to moving to a bi-weekly meeting schedule. This would set our next meeting for the 16th of June, for example. Tonight's initial topics will be discussing ideas for remote teaching of summer programs, in particular with youth. The second topic will be in regard to ideas for keeping students engaged and motivated in the current situation. Likely at some point we may want to discuss our thoughts on the process of returning to regular teaching situations, and what percautions and methods we will utilize for our return to this environment. He has no behavioral issues. The core of the support team will be an O&M Specialist who has experience with visual training therapy and speech therapy. The ideal candidate will also be experienced in physical therapy, athletic training, and be able to teach skills which facilitate independence and advance education. The candidate must have a peaceful, youthful demeanor and be looking for a long-term position. The candidate must be willing to locate to wherever the son needs to be and must be able to relocate again to accompany the son who is currently applying for college. In addition, the candidate can expect a good amount of travel beyond the home or college base. Family is aware that excellent candidates for the position may not possess all of the skills and experience noted in description above. If you have the essential skills, are flexible about relocation and travel, and are inspired by the idea of helping this young man as he grows into adulthood and beyond we?d like to hear from you. Hello Everyone, I would appreciate everyone making suggestions regarding our next conference call, I feel it is important that we are having these calls with a base of subjects to work from. I truly enjoy the discussions we are having, and there is no question that some great ideas are resulting from the calls, so please put your minds to helping us continue the success we are experiencing. If we are not able to have enough subjects to fill the two hour timeframe, I would then suggest we move to a call every other week, so that we maintain the quality of our discussions. Call out for Volunteer Blind Mentors for VRCBVI's Teen Program

Hello all, This is a follow up solicitation for volunteers to help out with our Learning Independence Feeling Empowered teen program at VRCBVI. We are looking for individuals who would be able to give up a couple hours, at the most, of your time to complete an informational interview over the phone or potentially via zoom. It would be some time in July or early August.
