There will be two sessions offered, and this will include hands-on experience for the teachers, parents, and others in attendance. Journal of Blindness Innovation and Research Workshop at Convention

Individuals who work in the blindness field and who will be attending the 2015 convention of the National Federation of the Blind are encouraged to join the editorial staff of the Journal of Blindness Innovation and Research for a workshop on how to write a professional practice article. The workshop will take place on Monday, July 6, 6:00-8:00 PM, Salon 17, Level 2. The Journal of Blindness Innovation and Research (JBIR) is seeking the submission of professional practice articles that capture the knowledge that many of our members who work in the blindness field possess. This workshop will provide an overview of how to write a professional practice article, and then provide attendees an opportunity to work with JBIR editors and other authors to prepare an outline for a professional practice article on a topic of your choosing. Attendees should bring something to write with and a topic for their outline. General Experience: Six (6) years of experience in teaching blind or visually disabled children or adults. Special Experience: One (1) year of the General Experience must have been in mobility instruction. Substitutions Allowed: 1. The scholarships are targeted for Veterans and traditionally minority college/university students. However, anyone who meets the criteria of having been accepted into a program of study in visual impairment rehabilitation, or orientation and mobility, may apply and be considered. We are looking for applicants with a strong academic record and enthusiasm for blind and vision rehabilitation, who want to serve visually impaired Veterans who have served their nation.
