Job Description The Iowa Department for the Blind is seeking a Program
Administrator to coordinate the department's education and training needs.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
* provide leadership for and supervise rehabilitation technology
specialists, field vocational rehabilitation teachers, and summer program
staff
* serve as part of the agency management team
* coordinate transition age youth programs including the summer training
program, and weekend retreats
* create and update curriculum and assessments for adjustment to blindness
training, summer youth program, and other trainings and programs
* work with schools, area education agencies, and the Iowa Educational
Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired to improve college and career
readiness of blind students
* develop and revise policies and procedures
* other duties as assigned
In addition, the ideal candidate will have a strong background in adjustment
to blindness training using structured discover methodology. He/she will
demonstrate a positive philosophy of blindness and high expectations for
clients and staff. He/she will be able to demonstrate proficiency in the use
of non-visual techniques and a passion for helping blind people live up to
their full potential. He or she will possess knowledge of current secondary
education theory and practice and have experience in curriculum writing. He
or she will have excellent written and oral communications skills..
