Preparing for our Tuesday afternoon Zoom call
Hello Everyone, This is a reminder to please send your suggestions for discussion topics for Tuesday afternoon. One thought I've had to to ask folks where they are obtaining their protective equipment, masks and the like. Also, I want to remind all of you that haven't yet signed on for the 2020 Cane Walk, but want to participate, please let me know that you want to be a part of this event. I look forward to talking with all of you Tuesday. Jeff
Morning All, I have a question to pose to everyone this week. VRCBVI has officially announced that we will be running our LIFE (Learning Independence Feeling Empowered) Program for blind teenagers this summer. The kicker though is that we will be doing everything virtually from start to finish. I was hoping to get some brainstorming ideas for teaching cane travel to brand new students via Zoom. It's going to be a five week blindness skills program for kiddos with ages ranging from 14 to 18. The schedule will look very different from years past in that we will be having an hour long one on one class with each student, two days a week. We haven't gotten the full details as of yet, and much of it, as my Director encouragingly states, "is in Jello". So, I thought I'd try starting to pick everyone's brains now. Thanks in advance for your time and help. Have a great eve and talk to you soon. *Becky Keller, NOMC, COMS* *Lead Orientation and Mobility Instructor* Virginia Rehabilitation Center for the Blind and Vision Impaired 401 Azalea Avenue https://maps.google.com/?q=401+Azalea+Avenue+Richmond,+VA+23227+(804&entry=gmail&source=g Richmond, VA 23227 https://maps.google.com/?q=401+Azalea+Avenue+Richmond,+VA+23227+(804&entry=gmail&source=g (804) 371-3093 <(804)%20371-3093> becky.keller at dbvi.virginia.gov Facebook: VDBVI https://www.facebook.com/VDBVI Worldwide Web: Virginia Rehabilitation Center for the Blind and Vision Impaired http://www.vrcbvi.org/ YouTube: VRCBVI http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLwsqnBw28gUNgMMSkH_eYci37g9XY6Qzd "Success is a journey, not a destination.
