Hello all,
I saw this come through today. Please share and complete the below survey. I have completed it myself and believe that it is important to get the perspectives of SD professionals on this as well.
Warm regards,
Colin Wong

Hello Everyone,
AER is working with ONet, the Department of Labor’s site for market research and labor market data to update the language and qualifications around the fields of Orientation and Mobility, Rehabilitation Teaching, and Access Technology Instructors.
It is very important that we provide as much data as we can to support a well rounded, accurate, and current scope of all the qualifications and details around these professions as we can.
If you have been teaching in these areas for five years or over, Please take time and complete this survey.
We want to be sure that all aspects of our labor market are represented.
Thank you, Sent: Tuesday, November 26, 2024, 7:37 AM

Dear AER Members,
I hope this message finds you well. I am excited to share that AER is collaborating with O*NET, the Occupational Information Network, on an important project aimed at updating the professional listing for Low Vision Therapists, Orientation and Mobility Specialists, and Vision Rehabilitation Therapists (29-1122.01http://clicks.memberclicks-mail.net/ls/click?upn=u001.zQMtDyzPkxw9dikwotiInn...). This project is supported by the U.S. Department of Labor and seeks to gather occupational information for approximately 1,000 occupations, including ours.
As part of this initiative, AER has been asked to develop a list of experts. We kindly request your participation in a brief survey to facilitate this process. To build our expert list, we need the names and contact information of Low Vision Therapists, Orientation and Mobility Specialists, and Vision Rehabilitation Therapists who have a minimum of five years’ experience providing services to individuals who are blind or have low vision. We also value the invaluable input from Teachers of Students with Visual Impairments and Assistive Technology Instructional Specialists for Individuals with Visual Impairments, and we encourage your participation in the survey as well.

Deadline: December 20, 2024
From the names of experts provided, a random sample will be selected, and those chosen will be contacted in early 2025 by O*NET and RTI International to request their participation in completing a set of questionnaires about their work. To better understand what this entails, you can view an example questionnaire here: Example Questionnairehttp://clicks.memberclicks-mail.net/ls/click?upn=u001.zQMtDyzPkxw9dikwotiInn....
Your insights and expertise are crucial in ensuring that our professional listings accurately reflect the roles and skills of our members. The results from the O*NET survey may reveal the need to create individual listings for each profession, rather than grouping them together. This change could significantly enhance clarity and representation for our diverse roles within the field.
In addition to our membership, AER will be reaching out to other organizations to share this project and seek additional participants. For more information about O*NET and the essential work they do, please visit their websites at www.onetonline.orghttp://clicks.memberclicks-mail.net/ls/click?upn=u001.zQMtDyzPkxw9dikwotiInn... and www.onetcenter.orghttp://clicks.memberclicks-mail.net/ls/click?upn=u001.zQMtDyzPkxw9dikwotiInn....
Thank you for your commitment to our mission and your continued support. Together, we can enhance the representation of our professions and contribute valuable insights to the O*NET program. As always, please feel free to email or call me with any questions or concerns.
Thank you,
Lee Sonnenberg
Executive Director
