Good evening to all,
I wanted to pass along some information about an upcoming survey being conducted by Nora Griffin-Shirley at Texas Tech University. The research project is seeking blind O&M instructors to participate in and discussion about techniques that Blind O&M instructors use. Please see the details below. If you are interested in participating in the survey, please feel free to reach out.
Thanks!
Dear Colleague,
We are writing to request your assistance in completing the study ?A Study of Blind Orientation and Mobility Specialists? Teaching Strategies, Non-visual Skills, Accommodations, and Equipment for the Safety of Blind Students?. Specifically, I am requesting that you forward the attached participation invitation to all blind orientation and mobility specialists in your organization. The purpose of the study is to identify the non-visual skills, teaching strategies, accommodations, and equipment?blind O&M?specialists use?when teaching?O&M?lessons to individuals who are visually impaired.
The participants will be asked to participate in a 90 minute, recorded semi-structured focus group via Zoom about their teaching strategies, non-visual skills, accommodations, and techniques used by blind O&M specialists when teaching O&M skills to students who are visually impaired. The focus group will occur in Spring and Summer 2023.
We appreciate the participants? time and effort for this research study. When they leave their names, phone numbers and emails at the end of the survey, they will have a chance to receive one of the ten $50 Amazon gift cards in a random drawing. One week after the data process is completed and the research team receive the recipient forms from the selected participants, ten participants will receive the gift cards.
If you have any questions about this research, please contact Dr. Nora Griffin-Shirley at n.griffin-shirley at ttu.edu
