This position combines key responsibilities from both outreach and training domains within the Structured Discovery model. About Us PDRIB operates within the College of Education and Human Sciences at Louisiana Tech University and fulfills two primary missions: 1. Preparing professionals to work in the field of blindness rehabilitation and education, using the Structured Discovery method. 2. Conducting research to deepen understanding of blindness and advance best practices that promote education, employment, and independence for individuals who are blind or have low vision. Though headquartered in Ruston, Louisiana, our training, outreach, and research activities reach across the nation. Major Responsibilities * Provide direct instruction in Structured Discovery Cane Travel (SDCT), braille, assistive technology, and daily living skills to youth and adults. * Train graduate students in the Structured Discovery model for Orientation and Mobility (O&M) and Rehabilitation Teaching for the Blind. * Develop and teach curriculum in both online and in-person formats for Louisiana Tech students and national audiences. * Plan, lead, and manage training events, academic courses, workshops, and professional development conferences. * Write professional materials including training curriculum, policy documents, research articles, grant proposals, and marketing content. * Maintain and support national recruitment efforts for PDRIB's programs. * Travel, both in-state and out-of-state, to deliver instruction and represent PDRIB. * Work some evenings and weekends as needed. * Other duties as assigned.
