After a brief summer hiatus, OMSA is excited to announce that Mobility Monday is back!! Our fall kick off is Monday, September 12th (3PM and 7 PM eastern time), featuring our own Jimmy Morris and Kristen Sims, who will facilitate a discussion on Structured Discovery. Join us as we discuss what Structured Discovery Cane Travel? is and what it isn?t. The presentation will include benefits of using SDCT? Methods, and principles to increase client/student confidence and independence. *Jimmy Morris* is currently working as an Orientation and Mobility Instructor for the Virginia Rehabilitation Center for the Blind and Vision Impaired since 2017. He received his master?s in Counseling with a concentration in Orientation and Mobility from Louisiana Tech University in 2017. After obtaining his National Orientation and Mobility Certification (NOMC), he began his second career as an Orientation and Mobility instructor at the Virginia Rehabilitation Center for the Blind and Vision Impaired. Prior to his teaching career, he was a financial manager for over twenty years. Mr. Morris made his way into the rehabilitation field through his own personal journey with accepting his own blindness, as well as understanding the empowerment provided by the long white cane. He is currently a member of the Orientation and Mobility Specialist Organization, and enjoys being outdoors, and grilling for family and friends. *Kristen Sims* works as the Structured Discovery Training Coordinator for the Professional Development and Research Institute on Blindness at Louisiana Tech University. There, she teaches future orientation and mobility instructors the fundamentals of SDTC. Kristen also works outreach as both an O&M Instructor and Teacher of Blind Students for school districts across North Louisiana. After graduating with a master?s degree in education with a certification in O&M, Kristen taught in a public school system for 14+ years as a braille teacher and O&M instructor for children birth to 21. In her free time, Kristen is a soccer/dance mom for her two children and enjoys giving back to her community through volunteer work. OMSA is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.
