Jane: I don't know whether this is a warm lead or a cold one, but about 5 years ago Iowa Department for the Blind was working with a young blind man toward getting his MD. His name was Tim Cordes, and he was doing his medical training at University of Wisconsin. IDB's house magazine, The White Cane, had an article about him back then, and he was featured speaker at an Orientation Center alumni banquet, if my memory serves me right. I had not heard of him since he was in his final year of med school, but I did a little Google search and it seems he now is a pediatric cardiologist at Riley Hospital for Children at University of Indiana Health Care in Indianapolis. He has had some affiliation with NFB in the past, so I expect he would be helpful to your consumer. I hope that is so. Hello, I'm looking to make contact with any blind medical doctors practicing in the US. I have a new consumer who was an MD in another country. The individual can't send e mail yet so I want to collect some resources for him to call. If you know of any blind doctors, or even nurses, please pass on my e mail address. I would like him to be able to return to his practice if he chooses and not think that the onset of blindness has to keep him from it. Many thanks, Jane Lansaw NOMC
