Yes, most including some of the more traditional folks are starting to view that the armpit measurement is much too short. However, the measurement may be included as means to get some of the more reluctant people to have came in their hands I usually would say the chin is a good starting point for beginner going up from there, and once more, some of my more traditional big fat rollerball colleagues agree with that also. | Lerone Walker

?Hi everyone,
There is something on the NFB Free White Cane program request form that I find a bit off, so I am writing to folks here to ask if this is what the rest of you are doing.
The Free White Cane program application form can be found here: https://freecane.nfb.org/
In the application it reads: Cane Sizing For starter canes: measure to your armpit. Seasoned travelers: measure to your chin or higher.
## If the only cane a person has is one of these heights, and it is not reasonably easy to get a longer one, I am not opposed to working with them, but I personally aim for a cane to reach to some part of their nose. This is achievable for basically everyone because a typical adult nose is at least 2 inches long so that some cane will match this spot.
If this strikes a lot of people as odd, do you think we should try to get the instructions on the form amended?
Aloha,
Justin
